OUR APPROACH

MISSION
We are driven by the love of Christ and a desire to glorify God to provide high-quality, transformational educational opportunities for children and their families living in abject poverty in the Mathare slum of Nairobi, Kenya.

VISION
All children and their families in Mathare experience fullness of life, through Christ-centered spiritual, social and economic transformation.

CORE VALUES

BELIEF IN JESUS CHRIST
INTEGRITY IN EVERTHING
COMPASSION FOR THE NEEDS OF OTHERS
EXCELLENCE IN ALL WE DO AS IF UNTO THE LORD
PASSION FOR OUR TRANSFORMATIONAL MISSION & VISION

WE WANT OUR IMPACT TO LIVE LONGER THAN US.

At eduKenya, sustainability isn’t a strategy we added later—it’s the foundation we build on from the beginning. We believe meaningful change lasts when communities are engaged, dignity is protected, and systems are created that continue to serve long after outside help steps back.

Transformation Milestones

What does real transformation look like?

At eduKenya, transformation isn’t just about grades or programs—it’s about who a child is becoming. As our organization has grown, we’ve learned that meaningful change needs to be both intentional and measurable, without losing sight of the heart of who we are and what we are pursuing. These seven Transformation Milestones help guide our learning culture and give us a clear way to see how God is shaping the lives of our students and their families over time.

These milestones aren’t boxes to check. They’re evidence of growth, resilience, faith, and hope taking root.

1. Christ-Centered

We believe true transformation begins with Christ. Students are growing in spiritual maturity, learning to use their gifts to glorify God, and making choices that first reflect love for God and then for others . They are discovering their deep need for God’s grace and learning to walk in it daily.

2. Empowered

Our students are exposed to new ideas and opportunities that expand how they see the world and their place in it. They are learning to think critically, articulate their thoughts, and make wise decisions. Empowerment shows up when students are ready, willing, and able to take action with confidence.

3. Self-Control

Life brings disappointment, pressure, and uncertainty—and learning how to respond matters. Students are growing in patience, discipline, and emotional maturity. They are learning to make thoughtful decisions and face challenges in ways that lead to growth rather than destructive thoughts and behavior.

4. Positive Change Agent

Transformation doesn’t stop with the individual. Our students are learning to be team players—leading when called and humbly following when needed. Marked by compassion, humility, perseverance, and creativity, they are developing critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems and contribute positively to their communities.

5. Open-Minded Worldview, Grounded in Truth

We encourage students to engage the world with curiosity and respect while staying rooted in the truth of the Gospel. They are growing in self-awareness, learning to listen well, and engaging thoughtfully with others—without compromising their faith. This balance prepares them to navigate a complex world with wisdom and grace.

6. Physical Wellness

Transformation includes caring for the whole person. Students are learning healthy habits around hygiene, nutrition, and making wise, God-honoring decisions with their bodies. When medical challenges arise, we work to ensure they are addressed, supporting each student’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive.

7. Graduation

Graduation represents perseverance, growth, and hope for the future. Students complete required academic milestones in pre-primary, primary, and secondary education, participate in key rites of passage, and engage in leadership development and skill-training programs. Graduation is not an ending—it’s a launching point into the next chapter of life armed with a foundation to thrive.
