Meet Rose & Lillian

Rose is a Class 3 student. She lives in Mathare with her carpenter father, her stay-at-home mom, two sisters and a brother. Her parents are committed to their children’s education and make sure that Rose and her siblings keep up with their homework every day.Rose loves school and Science is her favorite subject. Her favorite storybook is 'Goat Matata'. Rose enjoys playing with her friends and loves attending church. When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher.

Lillian, Class 4, lives in Mathare with her mother and sister. Her mother is a casual laborer who works very hard to meet the family’s basic needs. Despite life's challenges, Lillian is determined to achieve her goals and studies diligently.Lillian likes engaging with her teachers who encourage her toward the goal of becoming a journalist. Lillian’s favorite story-book is 'Cinderella' and her favorite subject is Mathematics. In her free time, she likes to play soccer.
