Graduates Return to Serve
Former students are now sharing their gifts with our eduKenya team in wonderful and unique ways. Some are serving on our communications team, others on our teaching staff, and more. Beyond this, we have seen graduates create transformational opportunities in their community. Three young men are leading a community-based program that will provide a library and study space in Mathare. This initiative aims to nurture talent through a range of activities, with a focus on partnering with local schools. The program envisions a thriving environment for learning and growth within the community.
The Graduating Class (Who Were Once the Youngest!)
In late November, we held a ceremony and joyful celebration for the Class of 2025. We invited their families, reminded the students of their purpose, and honored their achievement. Our planning committee’s hard work made the morning smooth, and it was a blessing to have members of our international board present. God was glorified!
God Protected Us
This year our community faced unrest, protests, and a devastating fire in Jangwani Village that destroyed homes, took a life, and injured several children. Yet even in loss and hardship, our staff remained faithful, our neighbors came together, and God’s provision carried us through.
Favor with Parents
Our efforts are tailored for the young men and women across the Mathare community. As we serve students, we also gain valuable time and influence in the lives of their parents. Through individual relationships and parent meetings, our team hears firsthand how the school is impacting families. We are grateful for these stories and do not take them for granted!
Our Youngest Students – Play Group
This fall, we began accepting applications and interviewing families for our youngest class, Play Group. We can accept roughly 20 students each year and received far more applications than we could support. Our staff did a wonderful job getting to know each family, and we believe our newest class will be a blessing to their families and to the Mathare community!
Stewardship of Our Spaces
A lot of maintenance work has been completed over the past three weeks. At our primary school, a concrete floor was laid in the courtyard so students can flourish in our outdoor space—it will be ready when classes resume in January. Our farmland continues to develop with the installation of piping that will enable us to offer water to our neighbors and irrigate the land!
