April Field Report 2026

April Field Report 2026

The past month was a vibrant and impactful month at our schools characterized by strong participation in co-curricular activities, field trips, academic progress, and meaningful engagement with the community.

Community Outreach and Character Formation

Our Chelezo High School students and staff recently visited Machao Children's Home. They shared meals with the children, donated essential supplies including food and toiletries, and spent the afternoon in fellowship and play. Our students led games, shared stories, and served alongside staff at the home. This initiative cultivated a sense of fellowship, responsibility and servant leadership among our students, shaping their characters as compassionate citizens who serve the vulnerable in their community.

Prayer Request: Pray that this spirit of service would continue to take root in the hearts of our students, and that they would carry this commitment to their community throughout their lives.

Parent Engagement and Term Meeting

Last month we had two significant parent engagement events for Chelezo High School students. We held an academic clinic for our Form 3 and Form 4 students at our boarding school, drawing approximately 95% parent attendance. This exceptional turnout allowed parents and teachers to collaboratively review individual student performance and develop targeted strategies for improvement. Six days later, we held the Term One Parents' Meeting welcoming our students' families to discuss academic progress, student discipline, and school development. This consistent family engagement reflects the culture of accountability and partnership that drives academic success at eduKenya.

Prayer Request: Pray for continued strong partnership between families and teachers, and that this collaboration would translate into improved academic outcomes for our students.

Formation Sports and Physical Development

On March 30th, Chelezo High School held its annual Sports Day, bringing together all our high school students for friendly competition in soccer, netball, and basketball. The day fostered house spirit and allowed students to demonstrate athleticism and teamwork outside the academic setting. These events are essential to our holistic approach to education, promoting physical well-being, discipline, and collaborative skills that complement classroom learning.

Prayer Request: Thank God for the health, energy and good sportsmanship of our students. Please pray for continued physical education engagement and growth of our students.

Mawewa Preschool Trip

Learners participated in an educational visit to Mamba Village, East Africa's largest crocodile farm, located in Nairobi. They observed crocodiles in various life stages, explored botanical gardens, and learned about reptile conservation. This hands-on experience extended learning beyond the classroom, transforming abstract concepts about wildlife and ecosystems into concrete understanding. For many of our youngest learners, this outing was a formative moment of discovery that ignited wonder about the natural world.

Prayer Request: Pray that these hands-on learning experiences would continue to spark wonder and curiosity in our youngest learners, laying a foundation for lifelong learning.

Academic Assessment and Progress Tracking

As Term One drew to a close, students across all our schools sat for end-of-term examinations. These assessments provide teachers with critical data to identify learning gaps, recognize student strengths, and adjust instructional approaches for Term Two. The results inform and guide our academic planning, ensuring that each student receives the support needed to reach their full potential.

Prayer Request: Pray for wisdom for our teachers as they analyze assessment results and adjust instruction to meet each student's needs. Also pray for diligence among students as they prepare for Term Two.

Career Exposure - Media and Communication

On March 28th, members of our Chelezo High School Journalism Club visited Ene FM Radio Station in Wote. Students toured the broadcast facilities, observed live radio programming, and learned about news production from station professionals. Several students participated in on-air segments, gaining firsthand experience with microphones and studio equipment. For students from Mathare, where career paths often feel limited, these tangible encounters with professionals in their workplaces expand horizons and help them envision futures they might never have imagined possible.

Prayer Request: Pray that these career exposure opportunities would help students discover their gifts and calling, and that, by God’s grace, they would pursue their aspirations with diligence.
